Updated: Resource to Address Diabetes in Elementary School-Aged Children

New Section: Special Consideration: Engaging Families as Partners
HOW CAN WE ENSURE THAT THESE PROMISING PRACTICES ARE BROUGHT TO THE HOME?

Check out the latest in Addressing Diabetes Factors in Elementary School-Aged Children Through School and Community Partnerships, created in collaboration with the National Nurse-Led Care Consortium. Informed by our Fall 2020 Childhood Diabetes Prevention Learning Collaborative for Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker (MSAW) children and families, we have added a section that highlights the importance of partnering with parents to ensure that promising practices don’t stop when the child leaves the health center. This new section highlights programs that health centers (and all youth-serving health providers) can use to help train their staff on partnering with parents and families to promote healthy living at home.

During the fall, the School-Based Health Alliance helps run two diabetes prevention-focused learning collaboratives.

We are currently accepting applications for our Childhood Diabetes Prevention Learning Collaborative for Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker (MSAW) children and families. Registration closes on September 15. Learning collaborative starts on September 22! For more information, check out our flyer
