Confidentiality protections are an important element in the effective delivery of school-based health care. Increasingly, school-based health centers are billing Medicaid or commercial health insurance plans. Numerous opportunities exist for confidentiality to be breached in the billing and health insurance claims process, including through the sending of explanations of benefits (EOBs). Confidentiality protections and disclosures are subject to various state and federal laws. A few states have laws in place that attempt to limit confidentiality breaches in the billing and health insurance claims process. This webinar clarifies the laws and explore potential strategies for addressing these complex issues.
