Assistant Professor School of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine and Dental Director of Whitefoord Inc. Karyl Patten oversees the daily operation of Whitefoord, Inc.’s school-based and FQHC dental clinics.

Dr. Karyl Patten was one of the first dentists to establish comprehensive oral health in School-Based Health Centers (SBHC) in the state of Georgia. She has provided quality dental care to thousands of vulnerable patients facing consequences of health disparities in the state. She has worked as a clinician in the field of general dentistry for more than 25 years advising partners in dental operations and financial sustainability.

Dr. Patten currently holds faculty positions at Emory University School of Medicine and The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University and Advisory Board for West Georgia Technical College.

As an early supporter of school-based health care, Dr. Patten continues to train dental and medical students developing Georgia’s workforce to improve oral health outcomes.

Dr. Patten is a past president of The American Association of Women Dentists (2017) and currently serves on the Smiles for Success Foundation Board bringing smiles back to women who are impoverished.
