Join the Child Trends team on their upcoming webinar “Innovative practices for providing sexual health education and services in schools.” The webinar is scheduled for Thursday, February 16th, 2023 from 3:30-5:00 PM ET. High-quality and comprehensive family planning services promote adolescent sexual and reproductive health. However, youth often face challenges with accessing services. Providing sexual health services in school settings can be a promising strategy for improving access to these services. This webinar will feature presentations by four organizations, including school-based health centers: Nationwide Children’s Hospital, the Minneapolis Health Department, La Clínica, and AccessMatters.
The presentations will highlight four unique strategies for providing sexual health education and family planning services to young people in schools, including how the strategies work, why they were developed, challenges or barriers to their implementation, and tips for sustainability. The strategies that will be described during this webinar are further detailed in an online toolkit, “Toolkit for Improving Family Planning Services in School Settings,” and were identified as part of the Innovations in Family Planning Clinical Service Delivery for Underserved School-Based Populations project. This project was conducted by Child Trends in partnership with the School-Based Health Alliance, with funding from the Office of Population Affairs.
