New Federal SBHC Legislation: What’s In It and How Can You Advocate For It?

  • Suzanne Mackey, MPH, Senior Policy Analyst, School-Based Health Alliance, Washington, DC

The School-Based Health Alliance has worked closely with Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) to develop a comprehensive school-based health care “vision” bill, which is on track to be introduced in Congress in February 2016 for National School-Based Health Care Awareness Month. This ambitious bill provides support for school-based health centers (SBHCs) to expand clinical operations, innovate service delivery models, maximize reimbursements, and secure SBHCs’ status as safety net and essential community providers.

This webinar discussed the details of the legislation and provided concrete steps to help the SBHC field advocate for the bill to federal policymakers. Educating your policymakers about this legislation is a great opportunity to raise awareness of SBHCs during Awareness Month!
