Exploring Considerations for Schools in the Age of COVID-19

On Monday, July 13, 2020, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm EST, the American School Health As-sociation (ASHA) is hosting a free virtual event, Preparing for a New Learning Environment: Considerations for Schools in the Era of COVID-19.

The event will feature 20 experts who will address how to keep students and staff safe from the COVID-19 virus, how to help them cope, and how to support student academic success – providing practical solutions for returning to our schools for the 2020-21 academic year.

“This event is open for anyone with an interest in health and success of K-12 students in America We have a lineup of speakers and panelists from federal agencies and nationals organizations as well as researchers and state-level leadership, district-level administration and those
working with students on a day to day basis.” explains Kayce Solari Williams, Ph.D., presi-dent of the ASHA board of directors.

Featured speakers include Dr. Erin. K Sauber-Schatz, Task Force Lead, Community Interven-tions and Critical Populations Task Force, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention COVID-19 Emergency Response; Dr. Bettina Love, award-winning author and Association Professor of Educational Theory & Practice from the University of Georgia; Sean Slade, Sen-ior Director of Global Outreach at ASCD; Dr. Charles Gerba, an internationally recognized microbiologist at the University of Arizona, and Dr. Kenneth Ginsburg, Professor of Pediatrics at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Additional presenters include representatives from the National Association of School Psychologists, the School-Based Health Alliance, the US Environmental Protection Agency, and the American School Counselor Association.
