U.S. House of Representatives Passes Appropriations Bill with Funding for School-Based Health Centers

WASHINGTON, DC (June 19, 2019) – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed its FY2020 appropriations bill that includes a $5 million line item for school-based health centers.

The School-Based Health Alliance thanks Congressional champions Representatives Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) and John Sarbanes (D-MD) for leading this SBHC funding request.

“This is the first successful effort in many years to secure discretionary spending dollars dedicated exclusively to school-based health centers. We hope this $5 million represents a down payment on a larger investment in the coming years,” stated John Schlitt, President of the Alliance.

The Alliance looks forward to working with its supporters and champions in the coming weeks to be sure the funding request is part of the Senate’s budget package.
