School-Based Health Alliance Announces Search for New President

School-Based Health Alliance Announces Search for New President

WASHINGTON, DC (April 9, 2019) – The School-Based Health Alliance announced today that the Board of Directors has begun a search to replace our long-standing leader, John Schlitt. “For nearly two decades, John has been at the helm of the Alliance, and I join the staff and Board in commending him for his considerable contributions to the growth of the organization and the school health care sector,” said Winston Wong, Chairman of the Board.

Reflecting on his decision to step down, John shared this statement:

“After almost 19 years at the Alliance, I have decided that it is time to explore new opportunities and expand my horizons. Eight years ago, I came back to the Alliance – at the generous invitation of (former president) Linda Juszczak – with no expectation of a timeline or desire to step back into the executive seat. With the tumult of Linda’s illness and death, however, I felt compelled to help navigate the Alliance through a challenging period – and to provide stable, compassionate leadership to the organization when it was needed most. I am proud of what the Board, staff and I have accomplished together and can’t wait to see what achievements lie ahead for the Alliance as it seeks to expand its relationships and geographic footprint so that many more communities can discover the power and magic of school-based health care.”

The Board of Directors will engage in a national search this spring.

“This moment of transition gives the Alliance an opportunity to reflect on the attributes, skills, and experiences we want from the organization’s next leader,” remarked Wong. “I expect to find no less a dynamic, committed champion than we had in John.”
