Back-to-School Story Contest

All across the country school-based health centers (SBHCs) are preparing to open their doors for the new school year. As we get ready, let’s inspire one another by sharing stories of your recent successes! Best of all, by submitting a story you will be entered into a raffle to win a $100 Amazon gift card!

Core Competencies

The School-Based Health Alliance, in partnership with our state affiliates and experts from the school-based health care field, has developed a set of seven core competencies that encompass the common characteristics of great SBHCs (#GreatSBHCs).

To help guide you, please share stories that align with one of our core competencies:

  • Access
  • Student-Focus
  • School Integration
  • Accountability
  • School Wellness
  • Systems Coordination
  • Sustainability

Maybe your SBHC expanded hours to provide more health care access to students. Or you implemented a new program that provides nutrition counseling for school staff, improving school wellness. Or you were able to achieve financial sustainability by identifying new resources. These are exactly the kinds of successes we want to share with the entire school-based health care field!

We’ll highlight your stories on our blog throughout August and September. Stories can be submitted in written or video formats. High resolution photographs are encouraged! Please share any photos that we can post with your story. To be entered into the raffle, you must submit your story by August 31. We can’t wait to hear from you!

Please note that this contest is now closed. We will announce the raffle winner shortly. In the meantime, see other stories here.
