Help Us Build the Future Leaders of the School-Based Health Care Movement

LFP Webpage ImageFor 20 years, the School-Based Health Alliance and our supporters have worked hard to expand the school-based health care field and strengthen existing centers.

That’s why we’re so excited about the upcoming launch of our School Health Leadership Fellows Program, which will bring emerging school health care leaders together in a shared learning community. With support from The Atlantic Philanthropies, in February we’ll bring the first ten fellows to Washington, DC for their initial training. These outstanding individuals will develop their leadership skills and connections with their peers and mentors. The entire school-based health care movement will benefit from the development of these future leaders.

It gets better. We’re adding an 11th fellow, thanks to the generosity of School-Based Health Alliance supporters Judy and Jamie Dimon and their founding gift to the Linda Juszczak Legacy Fund. The Leadership Fellows Program is going to be terrific; with additional resources there’s even more we could do. Your help is important.

We’re asking everyone who reads this to consider a generous year-end gift to help enrich and expand the training and support we’re offering to all the fellows and, through them, to school-based health centers throughout the country. By year’s end, we hope to raise at least $10,000 for leadership development. For every $1,000 we raise, we can:

  • Bring an outstanding youth leader to Washington for our Capitol Hill Day on February 25, 2015.
  • Offer a convention scholarship to a deserving health professional student interested in a school-based health center career. Attending our June 2015 convention in Austin, Texas, and the pre-convention training, will be terrific learning and networking opportunities for them and the field.

Skilled and committed leaders are vital to the future of the school-based health care movement. As one leadership fellow applicant wrote, “Being a school-based health fellow would be a great opportunity. I really look forward to meeting and learning from the other fellows and mentors. It’s exciting to think about how my involvement will help us build a stronger, more sustainable school-based health center in my state.”

Please give as generously as you can. The future of school-based health will be a little brighter with your support.
