Join the American Academy of Pediatrics for a Networking Mixer in Seattle

Mixer At conferences we hear about and meet the most interesting people doing the most interesting things. Do you ever wish you had more time to mingle and network with these people? Well, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Council on School Health will make your wish come true next week at the School-Based Health Alliance’s annual convention! The AAP Council on School Health will be hosting a networking mixer on Monday, June 30th in the Adams room from 6:00pm – 7:15pm.

So, you are probably saying “Well, that sounds interesting, but what is the AAP Council on School Health?” The AAP Council on School Health has more than 200 members representing pediatricians (Fellows of the AAP) and other professionals from various other disciplines such as nurses and counselors. Regardless of their affiliation or discipline all of these members seek to maximize the health, academic achievement and life-long success of children and adolescents. Whether by providing direct care in a school setting, providing oversight for health services as a consultant or school physician or working with school nurses to manage the care of individual patients, members of the Council are committed to ensuring student health and safety throughout the school day. They appreciate the inextricable link between health and education and the value of healthy students as learners.

The Council is pleased to share many of its members with the School Based Health Alliance; so, what better opportunity to bring these members together than the Annual Convention. Current members will have an opportunity to put a face with a name and continue the conversations that have begun on the Council LISTSERV e-mail list. Whether it is about starting a new center, sustaining an existing one or implementing quality improvement…here is your chance to ask your colleagues just how they do it. It will also be an opportunity for those who are not members to meet those who are. Though we all enjoy what we learn as we sit and listen during conferences, it can be rare that we get to connect and learn from each other in other ways. So, take a break from listening from your seat and come by and listen on your feet during the AAP Council on School Health networking mixer.
