Congressman John Sarbanes (D-MD) Reintroduces the Primary Care Physician Reentry Act

Congressman Sarbanes introduces the Primary Care Physician Reentry ActThe Primary Care Physician Reentry Act (H.R. 4234) would create a pilot program to establish or expand physician reentry programs and streamline the process for credentialing, training, and continuing medical education of doctors returning to primary care. The bill would also provide training and financial assistance to physicians in exchange for their service at a community health center, VA medical center, or school-based health center, and they would be covered under the Federal Tort Claims Act.

The School-Based Health Alliance joins the following organizations in officially endorsing this bill: The American Academy of Family Physicians, American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine, American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, American Osteopathic Association, and the Federation of State Medical Boards.
